Avengers say group ready to face navy in the cree – Denies two suspected NDA

members arrested were not party of group
– Issues strong statement
The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) in the morning of Sunday, August 14 challenged the commander of Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie and commanding officer, Nigeria Navy Service (NNS) Delta, Commodore Joseph Dzunye, telling both men to come to the creeks of the Niger Delta, instead of operating from the cities and apprehend “sleeper” agents, who they call as Avengers members to in order to get favour from their top officers.

Image maker of the group, self-styled Brig General Mudoch Agbinibo, confronted both men in a statement refuting the claim by NNS Delta commander on Saturday, August 13 that two suspects, Stanley Tonghan and Felix Miyenminiye, arrested by the navy a few days ago, were members of NDA.
Agbinibo stated that both Tonghan and Miyenminiye were spies working in collaboration with security outfits. He said both men were given N5 million by two leaders, whose names were not mentioned to give Nigeria military intelligence on the activities of the Avengers.
The statement reads: “We made it clear that the Nigeria military is using sleepers’ agents to track or checkmate the activities and operation of the Niger Delta Avengers. But the more they try, the more they run into crisis with their employed sleeper agents.”
“Stanley Tonghan and Felix Miyenminiye that were arrested and paraded by the Nigeria Navy Delta are few of the sleeper agents working for Nigeria Military in conjunction with (two leaders, names withheld)
“The suspects (Tonghan and Felix Miyenminiye) was paid 5 Million Naira to give Nigeria military intelligent on the activities of NDA. On failing to deliver, the suspects were arrested and tagged NDA members, what a shame?
“Stanley Tonghan and Felix Miyenminiye are not members of NDA we do not know or have any connection with them. The Navy Commanding Office NNS Delta, Warri(Commodore Joseph Dzunve) is trying to impress his boss in Abuja, but arresting sleeper agents recruited by his predecessor.”

Chelsea happy with Mikel’s performance in Rio

TAFZ SPORTSCOMMENTS Chelsea have not failed to monitor the performance of their star midfielder, John Obi Mikel who is captain of the Nigerian Under-23 team at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Chelsea had granted Mikel permission to play with Nigeria at the Games. “The 29-year-old influenced proceedings throughout a tense second half, when the experience of a player with a complete trophy cabinet in English football proved vital to reassure and reinvigorate a team of largely Under-23s, “ Chelsea stated on their official webpage. “Mikel and his team-mates displayed growing cohesion and confidence in comparison to their remarkable 5-4 win against Japan last Thursday, which took place only a few hours after the squad touched down in Brazil following a logistical nightmare.” Obi Mikel, 29, has started the first two matches played by Nigeria at the Olympic Games, logging 167 minutes.  Nigeria are guaranteed top spot in Group B after their 1-0 win over Sweden.

Trump would be ‘the most reckless president in American history’ if elected Republican

PMIN POLITICSCOMMENTS Fifty senior Republican national security officials issued a stinging rejection of their party’s White House nominee Donald Trump on Monday, warning he would be “the most reckless president in American history” if elected. The group, some of whom had already announced they would not vote for Trump, included former homeland security chiefs, intelligence directors, senior presidential advisors and a former US trade representative. They served under Republican presidents from Richard Nixon to George W. Bush. TRUMP “We are convinced that he would be a dangerous president and would put at risk our country’s national security and well-being,” they wrote in a statement published in The New York Times. While they did not say they would vote for Democrat Hillary Clinton — indeed they expressed “doubts” about her — they were clear in stating that “none of us will vote for Donald Trump.” The experts essentially declared the brash billionaire unfit for office, echoing Clinton’s criticism by saying that Trump “lacks the character, values, and experience to be president” and displays “alarming ignorance of basic facts” of international politics. The New York real estate mogul also has shown no willingness to learn about foreign affairs or national security threats, “acts impetuously” and lacks self control, the statement said. “He is unable or unwilling to separate truth from falsehood,” the group wrote, saying Trump possesses a set of “dangerous qualities” that should disqualify him from the presidency. “We are convinced that in the Oval Office, he would be the most reckless president in American history.” They warned that the political neophyte’s “erratic behavior” has alarmed America’s closest allies and that he fails to recognize the indispensible nature of such diplomatic relationships. The signatories include Tom Ridge and Michael Chertoff, the first and second homeland security secretaries under president George W. Bush, former director of National Intelligence John Negroponte and Bush-era CIA director Michael Hayden. Also in the group are former US Trade Representative and World Bank president Robert Zoellick and Eric Edelman, former national security advisor to vice president Dick Cheney. The group joins members of the security establishment who have already come out against Trump, including former CIA director Michael Morell, who last Friday accused Trump of being an “unwitting agent” of Russian President Vladimir Putin

Nikki Phillip struck death by a truck in Antigua

Nikki Phillip of Yonkers is shown celebrating Carnival last week in Antigua in a photo taken by her cousin, Tashia Phillip. She was later killed when struck by a truck at the festival.
"There's no active investigation. Anybody could've gotten run over by that truck," she said. "That's negligence and recklessness. It's not right because it could happen to anybody."
Browne also said "the backlash has been horrible" from some Antigua residents who blame Phillip.
"Honestly it's been hell since she died," she said. "They're trying to put the blame on her."
Responding to reports that Phillip was intoxicated, Browne said she didn't see Phillip drinking.
"I don't think she was drunk," she said. "We had a regular conversation [before the accident]."

Even if that was the case, Browne said, her death wasn't her fault.
"If it wasn't my cousin, it would've been someone else," she said.
Browne said the family heard that the truck driver had been drinking, but they can't get any answers.
Iwuagwu said Nikki Phillip's mother, Novella Phillip, is still in Antigua, where she is trying to get help from the authorities, who had not yet released her daughter's body.
Browne and Iwuagwu said Philip was devoted to her son.
"She was an amazing mother," Browne said. "Very caring and loving toward him [Eden]. She loved him. I really do miss her."
"Whenever we did anything together, we did it with Eden," Iwuagwu said. "She did everything with Eden. She really cared."
